Recknagel AKM 11 mm – Tilting Mount for 11 mm Prism and Classic Rail Bases
If your weapon has an 11 mm prism, Picatinny is not automatically the right solution.
The Recknagel AKM 11 mm is a tilting mount for weapons with an 11 mm prism rail – ideal if you want to mount a riflescope or rail optics directly and cleanly on this base.
Especially with classic hunting, rimfire, or system weapons with a prism rail, the correct interface is crucial. Incorrect mounting can cause clamping, slipping, or unnecessarily erratic point of impact.
Why the Recknagel AKM 11 mm?
✔ Direct tilting mount for 11 mm prism
✔ Variants for round tube, 45°/70° prism and Swarovski SR
✔ Various heights for objective clearance and stock weld
✔ Professional solution without Picatinny intermediate adapter
✔ Suitable for hunting, small caliber, field guns, and precise setups
Why 11 mm AKM instead of an adapter?
An 11 mm prism is its own interface. Of course, you can often work with adapters – but each adapter increases the height and introduces another source of error into the system. A suitable AKM directly on 11 mm is usually the cleaner solution.
- You use the existing 11 mm prism rail directly.
- You keep the optics lower and more manageable.
- You choose the tube or rail mount to match the optics.
- You reduce unnecessary interfaces between weapon and scope.
Direct mount vs. adapter chain
❌ 11 mm to Picatinny to ring mount creates height and additional clamping points
✔ AKM 11 mm engages directly on the appropriate prism interface
For classic weapons, a clean direct solution is often more stable and ergonomic.
Understanding mounting height correctly
For many Recknagel mounts, the mounting height describes the distance from the mounting base to the lower edge of the riflescope's central tube. It is not automatically the optical center.
-
Very low mounting height: close to the bore axis, good stock weld, but little clearance for large objectives.
-
Medium mounting height: usually sensible for classic hunting scopes with 50–56 mm objective.
-
High mounting height: useful for large objectives, thick barrels, or if additional attachments/accessories require clearance.
As a rule of thumb: as low as possible, as high as necessary. The decisive factor is always the actual outer diameter of the objective, not just the nominal specification.
Variants – 11 mm Prism, Tube and Rail Optics
First, choose whether you are mounting a round tube or rail optics. Then determine the mounting height based on objective clearance and stock weld.

Practical Tip: Do not confuse 11 mm with 3/8 inch
11 mm rails and similar inch/prism dimensions can be optically close to each other. Check the actual measurement of your weapon. A mount that only "almost" fits is not a solution for point of impact and safety.

Suitable for
-
Hunters with 11 mm prism: if the optics are to be mounted directly and low.
-
Small caliber and training weapons: if a clean riflescope mount is required.
-
Owners of classic optics: if 45°/70° or SR variants are needed.
-
Gunsmiths: if a suitable variant instead of an adapter chain is sought.
Important Mounting Note
Mounts are precision components. Before purchase, the weapon system, rail/prism dimension, tube diameter, mounting height, and optics mount must fit exactly.
Cleanly degrease mounting surfaces, tighten screws according to manufacturer/gunsmith specifications, and check the point of impact after mounting. This text does not replace a professional mounting inspection.
FAQ
Is this a Picatinny mount?
No. The AKM 11 mm is designed for 11 mm prism rails, not Picatinny.
Why are there variants for 45° or 70°?
This concerns the optics mount. Some riflescopes have rails instead of round tubes. These interfaces are not interchangeable.
Which mounting height is correct?
As low as possible, but high enough for objective, barrel contour, and caps.
The Recknagel AKM 11 mm is a professional riflescope mount for 11 mm prism, when direct mounting and suitable mounting height are more important than improvised adapters.
