Recknagel Weaver AKM – Riflescope Mount for Picatinny/Weaver Rails with Variants for Tube Diameter and Mount Height
A Picatinny rail alone does not make your setup precise.
The Recknagel Weaver AKM is the suitable mounting level between rail and riflescope – with variants for different tube diameters, mount heights, and designs.
It is designed for users who do not want to attach their riflescope to Picatinny or Weaver with just any ring mount, but who consciously choose based on mount height, shooting position, objective clearance, and intended use.
Why the Recknagel Weaver AKM?
✔ for Picatinny and Weaver rails
✔ Variants for 26 mm/1 inch, 30 mm, 34 mm, 36 mm, and 40 mm tubes
✔ PSG variants for particularly low mount heights
✔ One-piece Pica variants depending on selection
✔ Nut clamping for secure, robust mounting
✔ Ideal for hunting, precision shooting, and high-quality optic setups
Why this mount?
The Recknagel Weaver AKM is not "a mount," but a family of variants. That is precisely its added value: you can adapt the mount to your riflescope, your rail, and your shooting position.
- You mount riflescopes on existing Picatinny/Weaver rails.
- You choose the appropriate ring diameter for your main tube.
- You determine the mount height based on the objective lens, barrel contour, and shooting position.
- You use nut clamping for a firm, defined connection.
- You can choose low PSG variants or higher variants depending on your setup.
The most common mounting error
❌ Optics are mounted too high because "reserve" supposedly seems safer
✔ Mount height is chosen so that objective clearance, shooting position, and firing position match
A good mount is not as high as possible – it is appropriate.
Understanding mount height correctly
For many Recknagel mounts, the mount height describes the distance from the base of the mount to the bottom edge of the riflescope's main tube. It is not automatically the optical center.
-
Very low mount height: close to the barrel axis, good shooting position, but little clearance for large objective lenses.
-
Medium mount height: usually sensible for classic hunting scopes with 50-56 mm objective lenses.
-
High mount height: useful for large objective lenses, thick barrels, or when additional front attachments/accessory solutions require clearance.
As a rule of thumb: as low as possible, as high as necessary. The real outer diameter of the objective lens is always decisive, not just the nominal value.
Practical Guide: which height for what?
-
H 6–10.5 mm: very low PSG/Pica variants for small objective lenses or flat sport setups.
-
H 12–15.5 mm: often sensible for 50 mm optics and many classic hunting scopes.
-
H 17–19 mm: often practical for larger 56 mm scopes or more clearance.
-
H 22–26 mm: special and clearance solutions for large objective lenses, specific barrel contours, or additional devices.
These are practical values, not a guarantee. The actual outer diameter of your objective lens plus a safety margin is crucial.
Variants – Diameter, Mount Height, and Design
First, choose the main tube diameter of your optic. Then the mount height. PSG here stands for particularly low variants, Pica 1-pc for corresponding one-piece versions.

Instructor's Tip: Test shooting position before mounting optics
Hold the weapon in your shooting position with your eyes closed, then open your eyes. If you are automatically behind the optic, the height fits better. If you have to raise or lower your head, the mounting height is probably not optimal.

Important Mounting Note
Mounts are precision components. Before purchasing, the weapon system, rail/prism dimensions, tube diameter, mount height, and optic attachment must fit exactly.
Clean and degrease mounting surfaces, tighten screws according to manufacturer/gunsmith specifications, and check point of impact after mounting. This text does not replace professional mounting inspection.
Instructor's Tip: Don't guess point of impact
After every mounting change, a test shot at the range is necessary. Even high-quality mounts can only function with repeatable accuracy if they are properly seated, always grip at the same position, and the clamping is correctly adjusted.
For interchangeable mounts, mark the Picatinny slot used. This reduces operating errors and helps you find your defined position faster.
FAQ
What is the difference to the lever version?
This version uses nut clamping and is intended more for permanent installations. The lever version is better if you want to remove the optic frequently.
What does H mean in the variant?
H denotes the mount height. It influences objective clearance, shooting position, and sight line.
What does PSG mean?
PSG variants are particularly low variants for flat, precision-oriented setups. The specific suitability depends on the optic and weapon.
The Recknagel Weaver AKM is a professional Picatinny/Weaver riflescope mount when tube diameter, mount height, and shooting position are to be consciously planned together.
